The St James Safety and Security team are now working alongside personnel from the Victim Support Unit in Somerton, St. James, offering counselling to the residence following the shooting death of two persons in the community on Monday, March 4. One which is a 6-year-old boy.
The deceased child has been identified as Jordanion Hodges, a student of Windsor Lodge, in Somerton District and the other victim 27-year-old, Quwayne Hemming otherwise called ” soljie “, laborer of the said address.
Reports by the police are that shortly after 2:30 p.m., on Monday, young Jordianion and his 15-year-old, sister were coming from school when they saw their Hemmings, who is their neighbour, and who was travelling home on his motorcycle.
Hemmings stopped, and offered the children a lift and placed Jordan as a front pillion on the motorcycle and his sister as the rear pillion.
On reaching the vicinity of his gate, Hemming path was blocked by a group of armed men travelling in a motor car, who open fire on all three occupants of the motorcycle.
Jordianion received multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, while Hemmings who residents say was the prime target, was shot some ten times by the gunmen, he died on the spot.

The police were summoned and upon their arrival, Hemmings and the 6-year-old, boy were rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where the child also died while undergoing treatment.
