Oraine Anderson, a 34-year-old chef from the Bamboo district in Hopewell, Hanover, known as ‘Proper,’ has been formally charged in connection with a brazen daylight murder that occurred on Market Street in Montego Bay, St. James, on December 5, 2023. The incident resulted in the death of one man and injuries to a woman.
Anderson faces the following charges:
- Murder
- Wounding with Intent
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony
According to reports from the Montego Bay Police, the now-deceased Wesley Reid, accompanied by a female relative, was walking along the roadway around 11:48 a.m. when they were confronted by an armed man who opened fire, injuring them. Law enforcement was promptly notified, and the victims were transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, Wesley Reid was pronounced dead, while the woman received medical treatment.
Following intensive investigations, Oraine Anderson surrendered himself, accompanied by his attorney, on Wednesday, January 31. Arrest warrants were subsequently executed.
