Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – CCTV Footage to be Produced in Assault Case: The CCTV footage is yet to be produced to the court in relation to the case against Tevin Melford – a security guard accused of assaulting a customer at a supermarket where he was on duty at the time.
Melford, who is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, appeared before the St. James Parish Court on Wednesday.
During court proceedings, the clerk-of-court told presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small that they were still awaiting the CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, the judge instructed the investigating officer to warn the complainant, who did not show up for court, to make himself available on the next court date for mediation to be considered.
Melford’s bail was extended until September 14.
The incident reportedly occurred after the complainant went to the business establishment to purchase envelopes and bun.
Whilst the complainant was about to exit the supermarket, it is alleged that the accused security guard approached him and asked him to produce the drink and prevented him from leaving.
It is further alleged that the security guard grabbed the complainant by his neck and hit him repeatedly. The complainant fell to the floor and the accused man allegedly dragged him on the floor and stepped on the left side of his neck.
After the complainant got up, Melford proceeded to hit him with an umbrella, it is further alleged.
The matter was reported to the police and Melford was arrested and charged.
