Kingston, Jamaica – A female bar owner was shot and killed by an unknown assailant at her establishment, Whirl-Away Bar, on Grove Road last Friday.
The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Kayon Adamson.
According to reports from the Half-Way Tree police, the incident occurred around 5:10 p.m. when Adamson was at her bar. A lone gunman approached her and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Residents, alarmed by the sound of gunshots, alerted the police. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Adamson lying behind the bar counter in a pool of blood, suffering from gunshot wounds to the head.
She was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the killing, but no arrests have been made as of yet.
Adamson’s murder comes nearly 11 years after her boyfriend, Delroy Thompson, who co-operated the bar with her, was also gunned down in the area. Thompson was chased and shot dead on nearby Kew Road.
The police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigation.
