Businesswoman Marilyn John Fatally Shot in St. Vincent

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent — Police in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are actively investigating the fatal shooting of Marilyn John, a local businesswoman, who was killed Tuesday night in the presence of her grandsons on the outskirts of the capital. This tragic incident follows the death of her son, Jomarl John, who was similarly shot and killed three months earlier.

The attack occurred near Paul Over, just a few hundred feet from Marilyn John’s residence. Police responding to the scene found her vehicle with multiple windows shattered by gunfire, and John was pronounced dead on-site, marking the 39th murder recorded in the country this year. In addition to her grandsons, an adult male was also in the vehicle at the time.

According to reports, masked assailants approached John’s vehicle, demanding money before opening fire; however, it appears nothing was taken. This marks the second tragedy for the John family in recent months, as Jomarl, 30, was killed in July alongside a 16-year-old student who may have been an unintended target.

In a heartbreaking social media post on September 25, John had spoken about seeking divine justice for her son’s murder.
