St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Bus Driver and Passengers Shot: Three persons were shot and seriously injured by gunmen in the community of Cambridge in St James on Saturday night.

The victims are a 61-year-old taxi operator, a 42-year-old housekeeper and a 26-year-old technician. All three victims have since been admitted to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in critical condition.

Reports by the Cambridge police are that about 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, the 61-year-old taxi operator was transporting passengers in his black Voxy minibus from Montego Bay to Cambridge. On reaching a section of the roadway known as Shortwood the driver slowed down to go through a rough spot when men armed with handguns stepped from the bushes and open fire on the vehicle. The gunshots shattered the windscreen and the side glass on both sides of the vehicle. The driver and the other two passengers were shot to the head and back.

They were assisted to the Cornwall Regional Hospital by other passing motorists where they have been admitted and are being treated.
