Jamaica News, Manchester: The search to locate the body of a teenage student, who drowned in the Port Kaiser River in Alligator Pond, Manchester on Monday, April 21, ended on Wednesday morning, following the discovery of the boy’s body in a section of the water.
The body of the victim who has been identified as 16-year-old Christopher Wellington, otherwise called “Chris” of Smithfield district in Cross Keys, Manchester was discovered about 11:30 a.m.
Reports by the Manchester police are that, shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Christopher and other family members went for a swim in the Alligator Pond.
It is reported that while at the massive pond, the 16-year-old boy walked from the location and joined some other boys who were swimming in the Port Kaiser River which adjoins Alligator Pond.
While swimming he got into difficulties and got pulled under the water. Family members raised an alarm and then summoned the police.
The body was discovered with the help of the Alligator Pond Police, the Marine police, JDF Coast Guard and community members.
