Wallerfield, Trinidad and Tobago — The search for 19-year-old Maria Paul, missing since September 11, 2024, came to a tragic end today as her body was discovered buried at Babwah Trace, Wallerfield. Paul, who was last seen at her boyfriend’s home in Arima, had been feared dead by her family after weeks of silence.
Her mother, Ria Hosein-Thompson, had earlier voiced her deepest fears, saying, “I am just hoping to find her body at least because if Maria was alive and out there, she would have already reached out to me.” These fears were realized with today’s heartbreaking discovery, marking a devastating conclusion to the family’s search.
Paul had previously gone missing in 2020, during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, after leaving her home on Plantation Road, Valencia. She was found safe and returned to her family shortly thereafter, but this time the outcome was tragically different.
Police have questioned a man with whom Paul was in a relationship, though no further details have been disclosed as investigations into her death are ongoing. The authorities continue their probe into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death, as the community mourns the loss of a young life cut short.
