A Belgian national who was caught in possession of a quantity of cocaine at the Sangster’s International Airport in Montego Bay, St James on Sunday, March 3, will make his first appearance in the St James Parish Court this Friday, March 8.
The accused has been identified as 55-year-old, Jan Gerebern Kempen , a farmer of Belgium, and he has been charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and attempting to export cocaine.
Reports by the Area One Narcotics police are that about 4:30 p.m., Kempen checked in at the airport to board a flight destined for Brussels in Belgium.
On reaching the security checkpoint, he was going through the screening process, when he was found to be carrying a portion of cocaine, which was concealed on his person.
He was taken into custody and subsequently slapped with charges.
