Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Armed Robber Fatally Shot: An armed robber who reportedly held up and robbed a businessman at gunpoint in downtown Montego Bay on Wednesday afternoon, June 5th was shot and killed by members of the Freeport Police. An illegal firearm was taken from him.
He has been identified as, Rick Roy Murdock of a St James address.
One 9 mm semi-automatic pistol containing several live rounds was taken from him.
Reports are that, about 6:00 pm on Wednesday, Murdock who was armed with the handgun, held up and robbed a businessman along Harbor Street in downtown Montego Bay and ran in the direction of Bay West Plaza.
A team of police officers who were in the area chased the armed robber. He ran towards the basement of the Plaza and opened fire on the police.
The gunfire was returned, during the shooting, Murdock was shot and killed. The 9 mm pistol was taken from him and the loot retrieved.
He was later transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
