Alleged Robber Shot Dead in St. Elizabeth, Firearms and Ammo Recovered

St. Elizabeth, Jamaica – Law enforcement in St. Elizabeth has had a busy week, successfully intercepting alleged criminals, seizing illegal firearms, and confiscating a significant amount of ammunition in a series of separate incidents across the parish.

In the most dramatic incident, police responded to reports of a robbery in Fullerswood on Sunday around 10:00 pm. According to authorities, two men had reportedly held up and robbed patrons at a local bar. When the police arrived, a confrontation ensued, during which one of the suspects was shot and injured. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. A Smith and Wesson Springfield pistol with one live round was recovered at the scene, as well as a motorbike that had been reported stolen.

This incident followed a joint targeted operation on Friday night, around 11:00 pm, conducted by the Area 3 Fugitive Apprehension Team alongside members of the St. Elizabeth Police. The operation took place in the Rich Pen district, where officers seized 43 twelve-gauge cartridges. Additionally, police discovered two five-gallon buckets containing ganja seeds and approximately five pounds of vegetable matter resembling ganja. The operation led to the arrest and charging of 43-year-old Dussard Nation, a farmer from the Rich Pen area in Mountainside.

In a separate incident on Tuesday night, around 11:00 pm, police carried out an operation in Middlesex. During a search of an unoccupied premises, officers found a black 9mm pistol, one magazine, and 17 live 9mm cartridges hidden inside a knapsack. While no arrests were made in connection with this discovery, the seizure adds to the mounting evidence of illegal firearms circulating within the parish.
