Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: An alleged gunman was shot and injured, and an illegal firearm seized, after gunmen challenged a team of officers in a shootout, at a section of Rose Town in West Kingston on Wednesday night.
A Browning Double Action semi-automatic pistol, fitted with a magazine containing eight live 9mm rounds were seized, while the identity of the alleged gunman is being withheld pending further investigations.
Reports by the Denham Town Police are that about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a team of police officers were on Patrol duties at a section of Rose Town when they saw a group of men.
The men upon seeing the lawmen brandished handguns and opened fire on them. The fire was returned and the gunmen ran in various directions.
The lawmen then carried out a search of the area, which led to the arrest of the accused man, who was discovered lying on a bed inside a house, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Further search of the house, led to the discovery of the illegal weapon.
