Alleged Gang Leader ‘Blood Stain’ Charged in 2017 Kingston Murder Case

Police have formally charged Courtney Ashley, also known as “Blood Stain,” following his arrest in the Phoenix Park community on Monday.

Ashley, a 43-year-old labourer, is listed as a resident of Phoenix Park Village Phase 2 in Portmore, St Catherine, and Fenbrook Avenue in Maverley, Kingston 20. Investigators have charged him with murder, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

The charges relate to a shooting incident that occurred on Fenbrook Avenue, Kingston 20, on Monday, November 6, 2017, at about 7:55 p.m. Police reports indicate that a group of men arrived at the location in a motor vehicle and opened fire on two men who were standing along the roadway. One of the victims later died while receiving medical treatment, while the other was hospitalised in serious condition.

Based on information gathered during the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Ashley. He was apprehended on Monday, and the warrant was subsequently executed. The matter is now before the court.

Meanwhile, police have also charged 22-year-old Dwight Miller, otherwise called “Glasses,” a carpenter of Payne Avenue, Kingston 11. Miller has been charged with murder, shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of prohibited ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.

His charges stem from a separate shooting incident on Lagos Drive, Payne Land, Kingston 11, which occurred on Monday, February 19, 2024, at about 10:30 a.m. Police on mobile patrol responded to reports of gunfire and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The injured man was taken to hospital, where he later died. Another individual was also wounded in the incident.

Investigators processed the scene and reportedly recovered items of evidential value. Following the recording of statements from complainants and witnesses, an arrest warrant was prepared. Miller later reported to the Duhaney Park Police Station with his attorney on Monday, January 12, where he was taken into custody. The warrant was executed on Wednesday, January 14, and he was formally charged.

A court date for Miller is being finalised.
