Authorities in Trinidad and Tobago have confirmed the discovery of the body of a 46-year-old fireman who was reported missing after being abducted from his home during the Christmas period.
Police identified the deceased as Bruce Lezama, who failed to report for duty on December 27. Investigators established that he was last seen alive on Christmas Day.
According to law enforcement officials, surveillance footage captured two men entering Lezama’s yard, where he was physically assaulted, restrained, and hooded before being forced into his vehicle. The suspects then fled the scene in the car.
The vehicle was later recovered abandoned, and police reported that a sum of TT$2,500 was withdrawn from Lezama’s bank account following his disappearance.
Lezama’s body was discovered at the three-mile mark after fellow firefighters organized and carried out an overnight search. Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing are continuing.
