St. James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News)- A Tribute To Jamaica’s Heroes: National Heroes Day is a day for the observation of the heroes who fought our our freedom in Jamaica and we salute them. A National Heroes Day Celebration was held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Sam Sharpe Square in Montego Bay, St. James, Jamaica.
Heroes like Paul Bogle, George William Gordon, Sam Sharpe and Nanny of the Maroons and our other freedom fighters are fondly remember on National Heroes Day every year for their undying spirits of fighting for justice.
However, yesterday was not only a day to salute those who bravely fought for the freedom of Jamaicans but it was also a day to thank our local heroes and heroines. Seven persons were awarded for the good they have done for the community. Although other persons were not awarded for the work they have done and are continuing to do, they too deserve our salutes, love and thanks.
The audience were enthused by the celebration which they passionately took a part in.
Congratulations to all our heroes no matter how small the task, always remember it is the thought that counts and you are a hero in your own little way.
We Finally say thank you to those brave persons who have fought and continue to fight to make the community a better place, the parish a better place and Jamaica a better place. We love and adore you!!
