A 57-year-old man died following a motorcycle crash along the Lances Bay main road in Hanover on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Alvin Quarry, otherwise known as “Charley,” a chainsaw operator from Crawl District in the parish.
Reports are that about 4:30 p.m., Quarry was travelling from Lucea towards Green Island when he attempted to negotiate a corner but failed to keep to his left.
He reportedly lost control of the motorcycle, which crashed into a shop in the vicinity.
Quarry sustained head and body injuries and was rushed to Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea, where he was pronounced dead.
Police from the Green Island station are investigating the crash.
Traffic investigators from the Area One Accident Reconstruction Unit are urging motorcyclists to wear helmets and proper protective gear to help prevent serious and fatal road accidents.
