Jamaica News: The Government will be spending $2.58 billion in the 2019/2020 financial year to continue construction and improvement work of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) facilities.
The project, which falls under the Ministry of National Security, is being financed from the Consolidated Fund.
This is outlined in the 2019/20 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.
Targets for the fiscal year include commencing and completing the construction of Lathbury Barracks (Phase 3), Up Park Camp, and Phase 2 of Burke Barracks, Montego Bay; and commencing and completing the redevelopment and renovation of the Moneague Training Camp in St. Ann.
The project aims to facilitate the construction of new integrated and training, accommodation, office and storage facilities.
The project, which started in December 2012, is slated to end in March 2024 following several extensions.
