KINGSTON, Jamaica—An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old in Kingston on Sunday, August 25.
The accused, Alonzo Rhoden, also known as ‘Little King’, a moulder from Fairview Avenue, Kingston, is charged with the murder of Shavohn Guthrie, otherwise called ‘Breddie’, of Marie Drive, also in Kingston. In addition to the murder charge, Rhoden faces charges for possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized ammunition, and using a prohibited weapon to commit an offence.
According to police reports, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Guthrie was walking along the roadway when Rhoden allegedly ambushed him with a handgun. Rhoden reportedly fired several shots, striking Guthrie multiple times.
The police were alerted, and upon their arrival, Guthrie was found lying in a pool of blood. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Rhoden was arrested and charged on Wednesday, September 18. Authorities are finalizing a court date for him.
