Manchester, Jamaica — A 15-year-old boy from Fine Grass district, Manchester, died on Monday after reportedly ingesting several pills in what police are treating as a suspected case of suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Keshane Stewart, a student of Knox College.
According to police reports, around 2:45 p.m., Keshane was at home with his mother when she received a phone call from his school. The call, placed on speakerphone, reportedly informed her that her son would have to repeat grade nine.
Shortly afterward, Keshane went into a bedroom. His mother said she later heard him coughing and discovered him lying on the floor with pills beside him.
He was rushed to the Percy Junor Hospital, where he sadly died while undergoing treatment.
The police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. Investigations are ongoing.
