13-Year-Old Student Drowns in St Elizabeth

Jamaica News, St Elizabeth: 13-year-old Carl Sylvester, a student who hails from New Holland District in St Elizabeth, lost his life by drowning, while swimming with his brother in a river in the parish on Sunday afternoon, May 27, 2018.

Reports by the Lacovia police are that shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sylvester and his brother went for a swim at a river in New Holland District.

It is further reported that while swimming in the water, Sylvester met in difficulties and drowned before help could reach him.

The police were summoned and upon arrival, the lifeless body of the teenage student was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sylvester is the second student to have lost his life by drowning in the parish over the recent weeks.
