Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: The police in the parish of Westmoreland have reported that, the 13-year-old boy who was recently charged with the murder of 9-year-old student Kadijah Chavealee Saunders, in Westmoreland on Tuesday, June 5, will make his first appearance in the Savanna-la-mar Family Court today, Friday morning of June 29th.
The sister of the slain 9-year-old, also confirmed that a Postmortem examination was done on her body on Friday, June 8, and the results revealed that she died from strangulation.
She also stated that the entire family is very pleased with the way in which the investigation has been going and also with the speediness of the entire procedure. She also told our news team that, funeral arrangements have also been set and young Kadijah will be buried this Saturday, June 30, in Bog District.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 5, 9-year-old Kadijah who hails from Dundee District in Westmoreland and attended the New Works Primary School, startled family members after she left school that afternoon but did not turn up at home at the usual time on Tuesday evening.
When her mother Cynthia Saunders did not see her come home on time she got curious and went in search of her. The mother was later joined by other members of the family and community members.
Several of child’s classmates told her family that they last saw her being chased by t13-year-old accused along a lonely road at a section of the community known as Bog.
They then went to the area and following an all-out search by the relatives and community members, Kadijah was discovered underneath a bridge at a section of the same area called Bridge Lane.
The 9-year-old child was discovered dead and signs at the scene showed that she may have also been sexually molested.
Following the gruesome discovery, the police were summoned and following a series of investigations, the 13-year-old boy who is also her schoolmate was handed over to the police by his father.
Following a series of investigations, he was slapped with criminal charges.
