Law enforcement authorities have taken two senior officials from separate Municipal Corporations into custody following a drug-related operation at Sangster International Airport on Saturday.
According to information confirmed by reliable sources, the arrests were carried out by investigators from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID). The officials were reportedly intercepted while attempting to leave the island and were found in possession of cocaine.
The individuals are said to be employed with the St Ann and Trelawny Municipal Corporations, respectively, and are both assigned to Accounts and Finance departments within their organizations.
Director of the FNID, Senior Superintendent of Police Patrae Rowe, has confirmed that the matter is under active investigation. He also indicated that an official statement from the Jamaica Constabulary Force is expected.
Investigations remain ongoing as authorities continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the arrests.
