PORT ANTONIO, Jamaica — Three men have been charged with Simple Larceny, Unauthorized Access to an Account, and Conspiracy to Defraud following a bank fraud incident in Port Antonio, Portland, between Tuesday, August 20, and Monday, August 26, 2024.
The accused are:
- Dwayne Campbell, 35, also known as ‘Deppo,’ a mechanic from Aldon district, Windsor Castle.
- Davian Brown, 27, also known as ‘Darky,’ unemployed, from Boat House Crescent, Hart Hill.
- Omair Webber, 27, also known as ‘Shay,’ a taxi operator from Dover district, Windsor Castle.
According to police reports, a woman claiming to be an account holder contacted the bank during the specified period, requesting a transfer of JMD $5,739,000 from her personal account to five other accounts at the bank. The funds were later withdrawn from these accounts.
Following an investigation, Campbell, Brown, and Webber were apprehended and later charged after being interviewed in the presence of their lawyers.
Their court date is yet to be finalized. Authorities continue their investigation into the case, which highlights ongoing concerns around banking fraud in the area.
