KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) has announced that a stretch of Olivier Road between Constant Spring Road and Norbrook Road will operate under single-lane traffic starting today to allow for road rehabilitation activities.
According to the agency, the project will involve removing and replacing the deteriorated asphalt surface and carrying out repairs to a damaged manhole within that corridor. Road markings are also scheduled to be installed as part of the improvement works.
The NWA estimates that the repairs will be finished by Monday.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, said the works carry an estimated cost of $19.5 million and are part of ongoing efforts to upgrade key roadways across Kingston and St Andrew.
During the construction period, drivers heading toward Manor Park are being directed to travel from Norbrook Road through Norbrook Drive. Motorists moving from the Manor Park area toward Shortwood or Cherry Gardens are advised to use the opposite routing.
The agency is urging road users to proceed with caution in the work zone and to follow posted signs and directions from traffic control personnel.
