An alleged assault involving murder accused Leoda Bradshaw was brought before the St Catherine Parish Court on Wednesday, after she claimed she was attacked while being held at the Bridgeport lock-up in Portmore.
Bradshaw appeared as the complainant in the matter, which was heard by Parish Judge Venise Blackstock-Murray. The case was subsequently adjourned until January 23.
According to reports presented to the court, Bradshaw was allegedly physically assaulted by another female detainee, identified as Kilfer Gilchrist, during her time in custody. Gilchrist was present in court when the matter was mentioned.
Bradshaw remains in police custody in connection with the 2023 killings of 27-year-old Toshyna Patterson and her 10-month-old daughter, Sarayah Paulwell. The infant was the child of People’s National Party Member of Parliament Phillip Paulwell.
The accused, a former United States Navy officer who shares a child with Paulwell, is facing multiple charges, including two counts each of capital murder, conspiracy to murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy to kidnap.
Investigators allege that Patterson and her baby were abducted from their home on Gilmour Drive in St Andrew on September 9, 2023. The prosecution has stated that the victims were later taken to east Kingston, where they were killed and their bodies burned.
Prosecutors have identified Bradshaw as the alleged mastermind behind the killings. A tentative trial period has been scheduled between September 26 and November 23.
