Mother Accused of Killing 6-Year-Old Son Arrested After Two-Year International Manhunt

A Texas mother accused of murdering her 6-year-old son and fleeing the country has finally been captured more than two years after disappearing, the FBI has announced.

Cindy Rodriguez Singh, 40, was one of the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives”, wanted for the capital murder of her son, Noel Alvarez, whose body has never been found but is presumed dead. She was arrested abroad with the cooperation of authorities in India, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed on Wednesday.

“This is the 4th ‘10 Most Wanted’ fugitive arrested in the last seven months,” Patel stated in a post on X. “That’s a credit to tremendous field work, law enforcement partners, intelligence operatives, and an administration that is letting good cops do their jobs.”

Last Seen in 2022, Never Seen Again

Noel was last seen in October 2022 in Everman, Texas, around the time his twin sisters were born. At the time, police say he appeared unhealthy and malnourished.

A welfare check was conducted on March 20, 2023, at the request of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. During that visit, Rodriguez Singh allegedly lied to officers, claiming Noel had gone to live with his biological father in Mexico.

Just two days later, Rodriguez Singh boarded a flight to India with her husband and six other children—excluding Noel. Police say she had applied for passports for all her children except him.

Indicted and Wanted for Murder

In October 2023, Rodriguez Singh was officially charged with capital murder of a person under 10 years of age in Tarrant County. The following month, she was also hit with a federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

The FBI added her to its Most Wanted list in July, offering up to $250,000 for information leading to her capture.

Though the FBI confirmed the arrest Wednesday, they did not disclose exactly when or where in India she was taken into custody.

Texas Leaders React

Texas Senator Ted Cruz weighed in on social media, saying, “I’m glad to see Rodriguez Singh being brought back to Texas from India, where she will finally face justice for the alleged heinous crime of murdering her child.”

Rodriguez Singh had not returned to the United States since her departure in March 2023. The case had sparked international headlines, with local Everman police and federal authorities maintaining pressure and tracking her movements for over two years.

Noel Alvarez: Still Missing

Despite Rodriguez Singh’s arrest, Noel’s body has never been recovered. He remains a missing person, with investigators continuing efforts to locate his remains and uncover the full story behind his disappearance.

Rodriguez Singh now faces extradition proceedings and will ultimately stand trial in Texas for what authorities describe as one of the most disturbing child murder cases in recent years.
