Four men have been confirmed dead, and another injured, following a motor vehicle collision along a section of the Whitehouse main road in Westmoreland on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Kimoney Thomas, Akeno Scarlett, Tevin Bailey, and Renardo Fenton, all from Rowe Town and Sunshine Drive addresses in Whitehouse, Westmoreland.
Reports from the Whitehouse police indicate that around 5:55 pm, all four men were traveling on two motorcycles from Bluefields towards Whitehouse.
Upon reaching a section of the Colluden main road near the Whitehouse Beach Club, the motorcyclists attempted to overtake a Toyota Yaris. This maneuver placed them directly in the path of a Toyota Hiace minibus.
Both riders and their passengers were thrown from the motorcycles and suffered fatal head and body injuries, dying at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota Hiace minibus also sustained injuries and had to be extricated from the wreckage by firefighters. He was then transported to the hospital for treatment.
