A man believed to be linked to the recent double murder in Bayshore Park was shot and killed during a police confrontation in Harbour View on Friday, according to law enforcement sources.
The deceased has so far been identified only by the alias “Rupie.” Authorities report that the fatal shooting occurred during an early morning operation at about 6:35 a.m. in Harbour View, located in eastern Kingston. Officers say a firearm was seized at the scene following the incident.
Investigators had named the suspect as a person of interest in the killing of 33-year-old Anthony Blake, also known as “Nick,” and another unidentified male victim. The second victim was described as having a light brown complexion, about 20 years old, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, and dressed in blue jeans, a blue shirt, grey undergarments, and red Clarks shoes. Police also noted that he had an unkempt hairstyle.
Reports indicate that the double murder unfolded about 12:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Texaco community when loud explosions were heard. Blake was reportedly seen fleeing the area while being pursued by several armed men who opened fire. He was shot and collapsed, while the attackers escaped toward the Bayshore Park community.
Responding officers later found Blake lying on the roadway with gunshot wounds. During follow-up searches in the surrounding area, police discovered the second victim’s body concealed in nearby bushes.
Both victims suffered gunshot wounds to the head and upper body and were transported to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Investigations into the case remain ongoing.
