ST MARY, Jamaica — Police have charged three men in connection with the seizure of over 3,000 pounds of ganja, worth nearly $9.3 million, during a late-night operation at Toms River on the St Mary-St Andrew border last Friday.
The accused are:
- Heron Brown, 50, farmer from St Elizabeth
- Wade Richards, 30, vendor from St Catherine
- Delroy Wilson, 28, of Portland
All three face charges of possession, trafficking, dealing, and conspiracy to traffic ganja, as well as taking steps to export the drug.
Reports are that about 9:00 p.m., members of the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) intercepted two vehicles in the area. Inside, police discovered more than 350 parcels of ganja.
Two Haitian nationals were also arrested at the scene and remain in custody as investigations continue.
According to Acting Senior Superintendent of Police Patrae Rowe, these large-scale drug seizures are critical in disrupting the guns-for-drugs trade, which supplies firearms to criminals across Jamaica.
“The value of the drugs seized so far this year could have armed hundreds of criminals with rifles and handguns,” Rowe said, adding that over 40,000 pounds of ganja and 1,700 pounds of cocaine have already been intercepted in 2025.
Police continue to urge anyone with information about illegal drugs or weapons to contact the FNID at 876-923-6184, Crime Stop at 311, or the nearest police station.
