Jamaica News, Kingston: A woman is lucky to be alive this morning following a frightening motor vehicle accident on Highway 2000 last night.
The lady said she was driving along the highway when she swerved to avoid an object in the road and lost control of the vehicle. The Toyota motorcar careened from the roadway and through a wooded area before it became wedged near a gully.
Her ordeal, however, raised the need for more lights on the highway, as the object turned out to be a piece of cardboard.
Furthermore, residents who belatedly came to help say they are hesitant to come to accident victim’s assistance at nights because the roadways aren’t properly lit and they fear being preyed on by criminals.
Some say they’ve heard crashes on the highway before but didn’t come out to help as the area is too dark.
