Woman Says She is Being Tormented by Boyfreind’s Ex-Girlfriend

Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay: A woman, who is the complainant in an assault matter, told the court on Thursday that she was being tormented by her boyfriend’s ex-lover and cannot walk in peace.

The accused woman, Bridgette Staple appeared before the St. James Parish Court on Thursday to answer to a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Details of the allegations were not read out to the court, but the complainant, who is presently in a relationship with Staple’s ex-boyfriend, disclosed that the accused woman attacked her and slapped her in her face.

“Your honour, I cannot walk on the street in peace because of this woman. At one point, she attacked me with a knife saying she was going to kill me. I’m really fearful of my life, the complainant told presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small.

Mediation did not seem to be an option after Wong-Small spoke to the complainant, and on that basis, the judge set the matter for trial on May 8 and extended Staple’s bail.
