Jamaica Crime News, St James: A St. James woman appeared before the St. James Parish Court Thursday morning for allegedly conspiring with other persons and stealing over $3 million from her ex-boyfriend’s bank account.
Bracken Ridge of Ironshore, appeared before presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small to face charges of conspiracy to defraud, money laundering and breaches of the Cyber Crime Act.
It is alleged that between 2017 and 2018, Ridge allegedly benefited from over $3 million that was illegally transferred from her ex-boyfriend’s account via a third party on Bank of Nova Scotia’s (BNS) banking system, after conspiring with other persons.
However, on Thursday, the prosecution disclosed that Ridge and the complainant had arrived at a mediation agreement and that restitution payment being made by the accused woman were up to date.
On Thursday, the pair also consented to the matter being enforced in the Parish Court in the event of a breach of the mediation agreement. Such breach could result in the defendant being sued in the Civil Court by the complainant.
After documents were signed by both parties, Judge Wong-Small set the matter for further mention on May 10 and extended Ridge’s bail until that date.
