Montego Bay, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Woman Beater, Restorative Justice: A restorative justice order has been made for Kemar Shand who allegedly lost his temper and beat up his lover during an altercation between the two.
Kemar Shand, 24, of Garlands in the parish, who is facing a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, made a brief appearance in the St. James Parish Court on Thursday, July 13.
Prosecutors said sometime in April 2017, Shand and his girlfriend were at home when a dispute developed between them. During the dispute, it is alleged that Shand fisted and kicked the woman all over her body causing swelling and pain.
The couple previously agreed to attend mediation but they did not show up on the date that was scheduled for them.
On Thursday, Parish Judge Sandria Wong-Small suggested the option of restorative justice, which does not require a fee, and they agreed to attend.
The matter was subsequently set for mention on August 17 and Shand’s bail was extended.
