Woman Allegedly Steals $2M from her Boss

Jamaica News: A woman who allegedly stole over $2 million from her employer was remanded in police custody following her brief appearance before the St. James Parish Court Thursday morning.

Marvia Stone, who is of a Rosevale Estate address in St. James, is facing a charge of larceny as a servant.

It is alleged that sometime in August 2018, Stone, who was a sales representative at Chuka Caribbean, sold several tours amounting to over $2 million but failed to hand over the funds to the company.

This came to light following an internal audit which led to the discovery of several receipts being written but did not balance with the cash collected.

In Thursday’s sitting, the clerk-of-court disclosed that that she was in receipt of a statement and question document and asked for time to review those documents.

Meanwhile, attorney-at-law Tassja Mitchelle, who was acting on behalf of Stone’s attorney Stacy-Ann Williams, indicated to the court that she would not be requesting a further reduction of Stone’s bail bond, which was reduced from $250,000 to $150,000.

The matter was subsequently set for mention on June 20.
