Westmoreland Man Behind Viral Voice Note, Charged by Police for Creating Public Mischief

The Westmoreland police have reported that a man who was listed as a person of interest in connection to a voice note which has been circulating on social media, turned himself over to Detectives at the Savanna la mar police station, on Sunday, March 29, and has been charged with creating public mischief.

The accused has been identified as 37-year-old Zavian Patterson, of a Westmoreland address, and he was accompanied by his lawyer to the station.

Reports are that earlier last week a voice note surfaced in the parish about the police locking down sections of Westmoreland, due to person beings infected with Corona Virus.

Following a series of investigations, it was revealed that he was the mastermind behind the viral voice note falsely purporting a shutdown of the parish.

The police say they are now reminding members of the public to be responsible and not to create or share false information which can cause unnecessary panic and anxiety for the public.
