Kingston, Jamaica — Westmoreland Ganja Factory: Westmoreland police report that they arrested eleven persons on Tuesday, including four Costa Ricans, and seized approximately 1000 pounds of ganja and two motor cars at a home in the parish.
Reports by the police are that at about 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 6, police detectives carried out a search operation in the Sweet River district of Westmoreland when a makeshift shed was discovered in bushes the bushes.
On examination of the shed, the lawmen found several men and a woman in the shed that were operating as factory workers – but compressing and packaging marijuana.
Police say they seized over 1000 lbs of ganja, and two motor cars and arrested that group of persons in the shed.
They were charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Reportedly the drugs have an estimated street value of J$4 million.
Police have not disclosed the identities of the eleven persons due to investigations.
