Westmoreland, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Westmoreland Businessman Shot and Killed: A prominent businessman was shot and killed by gunmen in the parish of Westmoreland on Thursday, January 25th and his licensed firearm stolen. His wife who was also shot and seriously injured is presently in critical condition at the Savanna-la-mar hospital.

The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Devon Paltie, businessman of Three Miles River in Westmoreland.

Reports by the Savanna-la-mar police are that about 12:00 noon on Thursday,  Paltie and his wife were at a Restaurant and Car Wash which they operate at Threes Miles when a motor car with five men on board drove up.  Three of the men exited the vehicle and walked into the establishment and brandished handguns.

The gunmen then fired a barrage of gunshots hitting Paltie all over his body and then robbed him of his licensed firearm.  They then fired more gunshots at the fleeing patrons and staff members and during the shooting, the victim’s wife was shot and injured.

The gunmen then made their escape in the waiting motor car.

The Savanna-la-mar police were summoned and upon arrival, the businessman and his wife were rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead and his wife in critical condition.
