A 63-year-old, water truck driver who hails from Bogue in Montego Bay, St James, was admitted to hospital in serious condition on Saturday night, of September 1st, after he was shot and seriously injured by a lone gunman during a robbery attempt.
Reports by the Freeport police are that about 10:00 pm, on Saturday, the water truck driver went to a Nation Water Commission outlet, located at Reading in Montego Bay, to fill his tank with water.
While at the water pump, he was approached by a man armed with a handgun, and who demanded money.
The water truck driver refused from giving any money to the armed robber and lashed out at him with a water hose.
The gunman ran and opened fire hitting the water truck driver to his upper body.
The police were summoned, and upon arrival, the scene was processed, and the wounded driver rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was treated and admitted in serious condition.
