Jamaica Crime News, Hanover: Director of complaints for INDECOM, Errol Chattoo say they have commenced a probe into the fatal shooting of a gunman in Rock Spring community of Green Island in Hanover on Thursday morning, September 27.
A police officer was also shot and injured the same incident.
The dead man has been identified as See-I Williams of Rock Spring, also in Green Island, Hanover.
The Green Island Police reported that about 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, a team of officers went to a section of Rock Spring community in search of Williams, who was wanted by the police for murder, shooting, and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
On reaching the community, the police say they came under heavy gunfire from Williams, who was inside a building.
The fire was returned and during the heated gun battle, Williams was fatally shot.
One of the police officers was also shot and injured by the gunman.
The wounded gunman and the injured cop were transported to the Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea, where the gunman was pronounced dead, and the officer treated and placed under observation.
A 9mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with several live rounds of ammunition, was taken from the dead man.
