Montego Bay, St James (Mckoy’s News) – Downtown Montego Bay Search: a joint military operation carried out on Saturday, February under the State of Emergency in several communities of downtown Montego Bay resulted in the arrest of a wanted man, the seizure of a homemade firearm and several persons been detained including one man who was later charged for being in possession of uncustom goods.
The accused identity has been given as Wayne Williams, a vendor of a Hart Street address, in Montego Bay.
So far the police have not released the name of the wanted man.
Reports are that, shortly after 12 midday on Saturday, February 3, the security teams cordoned off sections of Hart Street, Railway Lane and Barnett Lane in the downtown inner-cities, and conducted house to house searches and personal searches.
The operation which lasted several hours resulted in a homemade firearm seized from a house along Hart Street. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Downtown Montego Bay Search: a search was carried out at premises occupied by Wayne Williams which led to the uncustom goods been discovered and seized.
Over fifteen persons including the man who is said to be wanted by the police were taken into custody and others, some of whom are considered to be persons of interest.
The police say the wanted suspect taken into custody is sought in connection with murder and several other shooting incidents.
During the course of 2017 several murders and cases of shootings have taken place within these three inner-city communities. These areas are marked as crime stricken areas under the St James State of Emergency.
