Jamaica Crime News: The police high command is condemning the murder of a police officer in a Barbershop in Petersfield, Westmoreland on Sunday night, August 19th.
Dead is Constable Rohan Bucknor, 42-year-old, who is attached to the Little London Police Department.
The police High Command say they are concerned that attacks against the Jamaica Constabulary Force ( JCF) are committed by criminals when they are off duty, and in vulnerable situations.
About 10:00 pm on Sunday, Constable Bucknor who resides in Hartford district, was at a barbershop in the neighboring community of Petersfield, getting a haircut.
He had finished cutting his hair and was sitting inside the barber shop watching the Digicel Rising Star, with other occupants, when one man wearing a mask, entered the establishment.
The masked man brandished a handgun and open fire hitting Constable Bucknor to his upper, body before escaping on a waiting motorcycle.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, the wounded Constable was rushed to the Savannah la mar hospital, where he was pronounced dead,
The Police High Command has pledge to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
In the meanwhile members of the JCF are being reminded that the threat level against police officers remain very high and is urging officers to remain vigilant.
In the meanwhile, score of condolences keep pouring in from the Police High Command and other members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force to the family of the slain cop, Constable Rohan Bucknor.
