Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: Detectives attached to the Hunts Bay police station in Kingston, have reported that they have now finished processing a murder scene, along Waltham Park Road, where a male Correctional Officer shot his wife to death on Wednesday morning, April 10, then turned the firearm on himself, taking his own life.
The victims have been identified as 42-year-old Roulene Clarke-Gowan, Correctional Officer employed to the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre, while the husband has been identified as Patrick Gowans, who is also a Correctional Officer, employed to the Horizon Adult Remand Centre, is said to be a few years older than his wife.
Reports by the police are that shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Mrs. Gowans was at a location along Waltham Park Road, when she was attacked by her deranged husband, who was reportedly transporting their 12-year-old, daughter to school.
One eyewitness stated that Mr. Gowans chased his wife along the roadway and fired several shots from his Browning pistol, hitting her to the rejoins of her upper body.
The female fell to the ground and Gowans rushed over to her and again opened fire hitting her several more times to her body. He then turned the weapon on himself and shot himself to death.
Our news team learnt that recently the couple has been faced with several problems, resulting in Mrs. Gowans moving out of the house.
The couple has been married since the past fourteen years and residents who know them very well related that they used to be perfect together, until recently when jealousy started to overcome the husband.
Residents further stated that, since then he has threatened her life on many occasion.
One man told our news team that, recently after the wife moved from the home, the husband went to her workplace and threatened her life with a knife.
