Jamaica Crime News: Unidentified Gunman Fatally Shot in Westmoreland – An unidentified male who allegedly challenged the police in a shootout at a section of York district, in Westmoreland, on Tuesday, January 29th, was shot and killed, and an illegal firearm was taken from him.
Reports by the Bethel Town police are that about 3:00 p.m., a team of officers were carrying out patrols at a section of York district when they saw the unidentified male acting in a suspicious manner.
On seeing the police approaching, the man brandished a handgun and open fire at the police, the fire was returned, and the alleged gunman was shot and killed.
The police also reported that a Taurus 9mm semi-automatic pistol, fitted with a magazine containing Six live 9mm rounds, was taken from him.
The scene was processed by a team from INDECOM, and also the shooting is been investigated by the Inspectorate of Constabulary.
