Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland:Two men both of Westmoreland addresses were taken into custody on Saturday, May 19, after they were caught in possession of two illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition.
Investigators pointed out that, they are unable to release the names of both accused at this time because they will have to face a series of identification parades.
Reports by the Morgans Bridge Police are that about 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, a joint military team was carrying out patrol duties at a section of the Grange Hill policing area known as Bath House. While walking in the area, they saw the two men at a premises acting in a suspicious manner.
On seeing the lawmen approaching, the men ran and were chased by the police. While chasing the men, the police observed the men throwing away some objects.
The men were held and brought back to the area where they threw away the objects. A search of the area led to the discovery of the two illegal firearms, a 9-mm semi automatic pistol loaded with a magazine containing 17 live rounds and a Taurus 9-mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with three live rounds.
The lawmen then brought the men back to the premises and carried out a search of the premises. During the search a ballistic vest was seized.
