Two St Elizabeth Men on Cocaine Charges Get New Court Date

Jamaica Crime News, St Elizabeth: Two St. Elizabeth men, who were nabbed at the Sangster International Airport last November after they attempted to export nearly five pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of J$2.2million, are to return to the St. James Parish Court in another three weeks.

Charged with conspiracy to export cocaine, possession and dealing in cocaine, and attempting to export cocaine is 47-year-old businessman Nigel Barham of Nain district, St Elizabeth and 52-year-old farmer Dennis Daley of Myersville district, also in the parish.

Barham pleaded not guilty to all charges, while Daley pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to export cocaine and guilty to the remaining charges.

Reports are that on November 6, 2018, at approximately 2 p.m., both men went to the Export Cargo at the Sangster International Airport to export a shipment overseas when cocaine was found in mackerel tins.

The drug weighed approximately 4.7 pounds with an estimated street value of J$2.2 million.

Having had dialogue with the prosecution and defence council, presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small set the matter for sentencing and mention on April 23. The men’s bails were extended.
