Detectives attached to the Major Investigation Division in Western Jamaica have commenced a probe into a shooting incident in Spot Valley community on Saturday afternoon, November 30, which has since left two men dead, and three others nursing injuries at hospital.
Those killed have been identified as 32-year-old Leonard Mais, Cook shop operator, and 27-year-old Jason Reid, fruit vendor, both of Spot Valley community.
Reports by the police are that shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Mais and a group of customers were seated outside his shop when men travelling on board a SUV drove to the community, and opened fire hitting Mais and three other men multiple times.
The gunmen then sped away in the directions of Rhyne Park community, but after passing the area, they again opened fire on Reid who was selling ackees on a shop piazza along the roadway.
The police were summoned and upon their arrival, the injured men were rushed to hospital, where Mais and Reid were pronounced dead, and the other three victims admitted in serious conditions.
