The Barnett Street police have confirmed that two security officer who were found in possession of an illegal firearm and one round of ammunition, at a location in downtown Montego Bay, on Monday afternoon, are now in police custody.
The identities of both officers have been withheld, until they have been officially charged.
Reports are that about 1:00pm, a team of police officers were on patrol along Harbour Street in downtown Montego Bay, when they signaling the driver of a white Toyota Probox motor car to stop.
The driver complied and after the vehicle came to a stop, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a Taurus pistol, fitted with a magazine containing one .380 round.
The 24 year-old male security officer and a 22-year-old female security officer, of Barrett Town, were taken into custody.
