Jamaica Crime News, Trelawny: The police in the parish of Trelawny reported that, the two men who were being sought as a Person of Interest, in connection with the shooting death of a farmer in the parish on Saturday, July 28, have been both charged with murder.
They have been identified as, Roshane Williams, otherwise called “Shane or Bun Up” of Sawyers district and Ricardo Sturridge, otherwise called “Tippa” of the said address.
Both men were being sought in connection with the murder of Michael Smith, 43-year-old farmer who resided at a section of Sawyers district known as Cottage.
Sturridge and Williams were both questioned in the presence of their Attorneys on Wednesday, August 8 and charged jointly with murder and Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.
Reports by the Stewart Town Police are that about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Smith and both men were at a house in Burke District when gunshots were heard coming from the house.
Sturridge and Williams were later seen running from the house and residents went to investigate.
They stumbled upon Smith’s body and alerted the police. Upon arrival, the farmer was discovered lying in a pool of blood, with a gunshot wound to his face.
He was transported to the Falmouth hospital where he was pronounced dead. In the meanwhile, the police say they are now in search of both men.
The police say they have theorized that, all three men were in possession of an illegal firearm in the house, when one was shot and killed. A search is presently being carried out for the murder weapon.
