Trelawny, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Men Charged in Murder of Contractor :Two men were charged for the murder of Otis Patrick otherwise called ‘Roonie’, Contractor, of Albion Mountain, St Mary and Roaring River in Mendez Town, Trelawny, that was committed on Saturday, March 25 .
Charged are, 22-year-old Abejay Powell, otherwise called ‘Terron’, and 28-year-old Oniel Demitrus both of Lowe River, Trelawny.
The decomposed body of a missing Contractor which was discovered in a shallow grave in his cousin’s yard on Tuesday afternoon, May 30, 2017.
Reports are that, between March 25th to March 28th of this year, Patrick’s cousin who resides overseas contacted him by telephone and informed him that he should go to his house that is being built in the Wait-A-Bit area of Trelawny and take over the project from the contractor because he suspects that the contractor was robbing him.
Patrick left his home in Mendez Town, Trelawny and set out for his cousin’s construction site but, after reaching the community he later disappeared.
Patrick’s disappearance arose suspicion, the police were contacted and an investigation launched.
The investigators kept coming up empty-handed until police got intelligence that Patrick had been murdered allegedly by the Contractor whose position he was supposed to replace and, that his body was buried in the yard where his cousin’s house was being built.
Men Charged in Murder of Contractor: Following another series of investigations by the police, the contractor and another man from the area were taken into custody, and taken back to the construction site where several searches were carried out for Patrick’s body.
On Tuesday afternoon of May 30, the police and residents in the area stumbled upon Patrick’s decomposed body which was buried in a well-hidden grave underneath a section of his cousin’s house.
Powell and Demitrus are scheduled to appear before the Falmouth Parish Court on Thursday, June 15.
