Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: The Hunts Bay Police have now confirmed that criminal charges have been laid against the two men who were caught in possession of an illegal firearm while travelling in a motor vehicle in the parish on Monday, July 31.
The police further stated that, the names of both accused who have been charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, cannot be released at this time.
Reports by the police are that about 5:35 p.m. on Monday, a team of officers attached to Mobile Reserve were carrying out operations along a section of Marcus Garvey Drive, Kingston 13, when they saw the two accused travelling in a Toyota Fielder motor car.
The vehicle was stopped and searched, and resulted in the discovery of a Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-automatic pistol, which was loaded with a magazine containing seven 9mm rounds.
Both men who were occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.
